Abstraction takes place when a photographer focuses in on a section of a natural scene.
Different types of abstraction:
. zoom in
. lighting
. shapes
. colours
. patterns
Formal Elements Focus: Which areas appear clearest or sharpest in the photograph?
Light: Which areas of the photograph are brightest? Are there any shadows? Does the photograph allow you to guess the time of day? Is the light natural or artificial? Harsh or soft? Reflected or direct?
Line: Are there objects in the photograph that act as lines? Are they straight, curvy, thin or thick? Do the lines create direction in the photograph? Do they outline? Do the lines show movement or energy?
Repetition: Are there any objects, shapes or lines which repeat any creative pattern.
Shape: Do you see geometric( straight edged) or organic (curvy) shapes? Which are they?
Space: Is there depth to the photograph or does it seem shallow? What creates this appearances? Are there important negative spaces in addition to positive spaces? Is there depth created by spatial illusions.
Texture: If you could touch the surface of the photograph how would it feel? what do the objects in the picture look like ? How do they feel? Value/Tone : Is there a range of tones from dark to light? Where is the darkest value? Where is the lightest?
This is my favourite image because the patterns are very repetitive, also it contains three different types of genres of abstraction. Lines, Shapes & Repetitive.
I went on tumblr and found this interesting picture. I like t because it includes sharp shapes, and points, also the lighting looks very good. What makes it more fascinating is where the picture was taken from, a far distance.

These are some of Man ray's photograms:
How to make a good photogram: You collect some abstract objects that you find interesting. After that u get a test strip of photographic paper, then u arrange it how you want to. The reason you do this is so you know how many seconds you expose light to your photogram.
3 Photogram Ideas > To improve my photograms i would:
I would use more abstract objects
I would expose them to light a little bit more longer
I would need to put less objects at a time
Abstraction worksheet
These are the images i would use my photo book but i would also have to take more photographs.
This is a method on how to make a photo book also these are the materials you might need.
My abstract photo-grams
WWW: I managed to successfully make my photo-grams abstract. EBI: I need to try and make them so no one can see what the actual objects i'm using so i basically, when i make the photo-gram i need to make the observer think.
My abstract images taken at home

Alfred Stieglitz
Alfred Stieglitz was an American photographer and modern art promoter.By photographing clouds, Stieglitz meant to demonstrate how "to hold a moment, how to record something so completely, that all who see (the picture of it) will relive an equivalent of what has been expressed.
Ernst Haas
This is my favourite photographer because he makes his photos are really interesting because the texture is really pretty and imaginative.
Response to research
Evaluation:
I like this photograph because it links to Alfred Stieglitz, my one is the first one.

My Photograms
Photoshop
How i made this image: What i did was choose two images that i like then i went onto photoshop. What i used was the clone tool, however before you do that you have to hold down on the option button on your keyboard and select the type of clone you would like to use. After that you play around with it until you think it looks nice.
Photograms Boarder
Abstraction boarder
I kept to my theme of shadows and colour. I think i could have improved the layout by making sure the photographs were 100% straight and evenly spaced on the board.
