What is a selfie? Meaning- A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media. What i think it is-When you take a photograph of yourself using technology and posting it on social media.
The first selfie was take in, 1839 by an amateur chemist and photography enthusiast from Philadelphia named Robert Cornelius.
There is different categories to taking a selfie:
Mirror selfie
Outfit of the day
Group selfie
Themselves and food
Dance selfie
Lip syncing
Observed selfie
Selfies sometimes show what someone is doing or how they feel. However sometimes there is no meaning or a point of taking it, some photographers just take selfies to experiment.
I take a lot of selfies a week just to experiment, but if i think it looks good i will post it on social media. Sometimes there is a downside to selfies for example, people can criticise them.
Information about selfies:

Robert Cornelius Robert Cornelius was an American pioneer of photography and a lamp manufacturer. Took this self-portrait 175 years ago in the back of his family's silver-plating shop in Philadelphia. He took the first ever selfie in 1839 Vivian Mair Vivian Meir was a amazing photographer, she took more than 150,000 photographs. Vivian Meir would always keep her photographs private, she was a nanny for 40 years and the kids she looked after said she was very mysterious. Vivian Meir shows this in her photographs as well. These are some of her images:
Isle Bing
Isle Bing was a German avant-garde and commercial photographer who produced pioneering monochrome images during the inter-war era. In her photographs she would use, mirrors, reflection and shadows. She used arevolutionary 35mm hand held camera. During the 1930s Bing also frequently exhibited in Parisian galleries, where her work was shown alongside that of Brassaï, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Florence Henri, Man Ray and André Kértesz. her work was very famous in many different countries. Also Isle Bing taught herself photograph. Her images were black and white and her images are really unique what i mean about this is that it was casual and she didn't plan what she was going to take a photograph of.
Lee Friedlander
Lee Friedlander is an American photographer and artist. In the 1960s and 1970s Friedlander evolved an influential and often imitated visual language of urban "social landscape." He also used mirrors, reflection and shadows to take his selfies. Lee Friedlander would take his photographs in an outside environment.Lee Friedlanders's images are mostly in black and white and he uses the use of mirrors what i mean is that he would use the background in an affective way.
Mini project
I really like this photograph because there's a lot of shapes in the photograph and it's a good selfie also the colours blend in with each other.
I don't like this photo because of my face it's showing too much and the person who took the photo their finger is in there.
WWW: It was a successful photo (it's a selfie). EBI: The person who took the photo their finger was in the way which is annoying.
I really like how my images turned out when i edited them because before i edited the images i hated the selfie so much but now i really like it so much.
I really like this photograph because of the colours and how the light was used. My image was blurry when i printed it so I think it kind of ruined the photo but i think it is still successful as the colours make it look better.
I dislike this collage because all u can see is my neck and my lips which is not a selfie. Also the colours don't go well together and i think it's to dull.
I think i have been literal in some of my images, for example i put shapes over shapes. Also i think i used a lot of shapes mainly circles to make my collage. You can place your shapes however you want, for example close together, overlapping. I think i scattered them the way i thought would look nice with the image. I think i should experiment with folding the paper because i have not done that yet. Also i think i used bright, dull & bold colours mostly bright colours and i made them link to the colours in the original image. My successful collages make the original image look better then it was before.
I used resources that i found interesting like what William Gedney did he would cover part of his face using light or objects. William Gedney inspired me the most because as soon as i was shown some of his images i thought that it was something that i would find easy.
